Remembering The Lost Master Of Enamel Painting Dominique Baron

Dominique Baron has passed away. She is probably the most famous enamel painter in the world. She studied applied art at the University of Strasbourg, France, and continued her studies at the National Institute of Enamellers in Morez. After earning an enamel degree, she started working at Jaeger-LeCoultre, led by enamel master Miklos Merczel. After Jaeger-LeCoultre, she founded the internal enamel department at Roger Dubuis and DeLaneau. She then moved on to independence, creating for brands like Patek Philippe, Cartier and Montblanc. At Stern Créations in Geneva (now part of Richemont Group), she was the director of the workshop l’ Atelier, where she created her classic Poetic Complications watch for Van Cleef & Arpels. Series models such as Le Pont des Amoureux, Romantic English Garden or Quantième des Saisons: watchmaker Jean-Marc Wiederrecht is in charge of the movement, Dominique Baron makes beautiful dials, and uses all its enamel technology in the production.
